Day 21

Charlie Brown over Broadway!
Thanksgiving!

We had o be up at 3:30am (not a lot to be thankful for at that time of the morning) but our taxi arrived and drove us to Union Station where we were catchiong a very early rain to NYC! We had Au Bon Pain for breakfast (delicious pastries and bagels and very cheap) before boarding. The train was pretty quiet so we had plenty of room to stretch out, and the journey had some great scenery as we travelled.

It took about 3 hours till we arrived at Penn Station, this bit was tricky because by now we had about 8 bags and the station was packed! We found a taxi who would fit all of our belongings and Grandma and Grandpa so they went ahead to the accommodation while we stayed to watch some of the famous Macy's Thanksgiving day parade!

Our first subway ride!
To get close to the parade you need to line up at 6:30am but all I wanted to see was some of the giant inflatable balloons and you didn't need to be very close to see them. The number of people was mind boggling! After seeing some of the parade we stopped for a quick bite before buying our weekly subway card and catching the train to the Financial District where we were staying.

Our apartment was in Hanover Square and had a view of the East river. It had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and lounge and a huge cupboard off the hall for our luggage.
Central Park

Imagine - the John Lennon tribute
After relaxing for a while we took the subway back to Central Park and had a walk around and the girls had a play in one of the children's playgrounds.
Alexis would find pennies then give them to buskers:)

Then we had an early night to recover from the very long day!
